El Centro, Inc. – Academy for Children is a Spanish-English dual-language preschool. We follow a one teacher, one language approach. This means that regardless of home language students are exposed to and instructed in English and Spanish throughout their day.

We use a research-based curriculum to help children develop early literacy and numeracy, language, and pre-academic skills in both English and Spanish to support kindergarten readiness and academic success. We use a project-based approach following student interests so that students become active and engaged learners.

In addition to preparing children academically, we provide social emotional support. We partner with The Family Conservancy to provide teachers with training and support regarding early childhood mental health. We also use the Second Step curriculum and Conscious Discipline strategies to teach identifying, understanding, and how to manage feelings. Other important social skills developed include how to work with others, sharing, and turn-taking. These programs combined with the experience and care of the staff, allow us to create a safe supportive learning environment for your child.

We are a full-day program with learning activities taking place throughout the day.

We are licensed by the Kansas Department of Health and Environment (KDHE) and accredited through the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC).
