Health Navigators Erica and Justin attended The National Council of La Raza (NCLR) Conference last week in Orlando. They participated in four sessions about Latino health including : continuing Medicaid expansion, community-based models in approaching health, strategies in working with the under-served, and partnering together for healthcare reform. There were various presenters who shared the work and challenges faced at their organizations across the country.
U.S. Surgeon General Dr. Vivek Murthy spoke at the health town hall session, advocating for Medicaid expansion and protections against the Zika virus to ensure a better start for our children today and beyond. Overall the conference was inspiring and empowering. Justin and Erica look forward to sharing what they learned with our community.
